Deadline Alert! Friday, August 16 is the last day to register to vote in the September 10 primary election. You must be affiliated with a party to vote in that party’s primary. (The deadline to register to vote in the general election is August 21st) Here’s everything you need to know about registering to vote in New York City.
Am I Already Registered?
If you want to check if you are registered in New York City, refer to https://voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us/. If the site is down, check back in a couple of hours.
How Do I Register?
Print, fill out, and mail the two sided registration form by August 16:

Can I Register Online?
If you have a New York State issued ID, you can register to vote online here, but it’s not super simple.
What If I Am Registered Elsewhere?
If you are registered elsewhere and have moved to New York CIty, you can register here. Do not vote in your former election district. Indicate your former address in the NYC voter registration form.
Can I Switch Party Affiliation?
You cannot change party affiliation and vote in the new party in the same year. To change party affiliation for a future election, fill out a voter registration form and indicate a change of party.
